When you first arrive at the gallery, be sure to stop by the information desk and pick up a map. The gallery is divided into two wings, and the exhibitions are spread out over both wings and the lobby. If you have time, we recommend starting with the exhibitions in the North Wing before moving on to those in the South Wing.
The North Wing is home to the Varley Art Gallery’s Permanent Collection, which features paintings, sculptures, and prints by local artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. The Permanent Collection is also where you’ll find the Gallery Shop, which sells art books, jewelry, pottery, and other handmade goods created by local artisans.
Once you’ve seen the Permanent Collection, head over to the South Wing to check out the rotating exhibitions. The South Wing also houses the Galbraith Auditorium, where performances and lectures are held regularly. Check the schedule when you arrive at the gallery to see if there’s anything happening during your visit.
